Mexico City based artist, Erika Krutzfeldt knows the importance of creating an intentional space. Endlessly inspired by her frequent travels, Erika seamlessly combines her vintage finds with carefully sourced objects in her curated pop-up bazaars. We spent the afternoon with Erika in her Art Deco sunny home to learn more about her worldly inspirations and ongoing projects.Erika Krutzfeldt at home in Mexico with IN BED duvet cover Dove grey linen duvet cover in Erika's beautiful Art Deco homeErika Krutzfeldt at home in Mexico with IN BED duvet cover

Can you tell us about your home?

I live in a 1949 Art Deco building that used to be a bank, located in downtown Mexico city.

What is your favourite part about living in your neighborhood?

I love walking through the back streets, where you can see all the amazing architecture. Living downtown allows me to appreciate different realities in contrast to other neighborhoods I’ve lived in prior to now.

Can you tell us about the objects in your home?

The intention is to make it feel harmonious even though there are a lot of different pieces. At times it’s difficult to pair various cultures, textures, forms and shapes in one space and make them look good all together. In this house I don’t own any art but I believe that the conjunction of these adornments all together has created something, an atmosphere that could be considered its own kind of art.

How would you describe your approach to interiors?

Interior design is my passion, I have a project, Healing Spaces, where we help our clients to improve the way they relate with their spaces. I believe that great changes can be made in people lives just with small rearrangements in their home, learning to maximize the use of space.

Can you tell us a bit about your mission behind Ojo De Búho?

My mission with Ojo De Búho is to travel and make a selection of crafted objects from different ethnic groups around the world. After these trips I invite my clients and friends to my bazaars, I usually hold these twice a year.

What does your sourcing process look like?

I’m constantly collecting and sourcing from my travels and market visits. One particular market I go to every weekend is the famous, Lagunilla Market in Mexico City, known for its second hand vintage and rare objects.
