A Mother’s Day Retreat

This year, in honour of Mother’s Day and in collaboration with Lancemore Hotels, we gathered at their Milawa location for an overnight retreat with mums we admire. We are grateful for the opportunity to bring our community together and share in the joys, and challenges, that come with caregiving. A special thank you to the contributions of RATIONALE & IMBIBE, who generously provided guests with moments of indulgence while enjoying Lancemore's picturesque accomodation.

The day began with a welcome lunch at the hotel’s Merlot Restaurant. A special menu, curated by Executive Chef Joel Grudnoff featured seasonal produce and local wines selected by Sommelier Jacquie Lewis. A highlight – king prawns cooked in a native satay, inspired by overseas travels Joel has shared with his own mother.

A long table, set to a backdrop of autumnal vines was layered with bespoke IN BED table linens from our Make IN BED project – a new initiative exploring creative ways to reuse textiles by offering open-source guides and complimentary kits to try at home. Our first project, created in collaboration with sustainability advocate & nature enthusiast Holly Beer, celebrated the Japanese art of flower pounding applied to past season IN BED table linens.

Guests included IN BED friend & collaborator, Julia Busuttil Nishimura and Ready or Not Podcast hosts, Lucinda McKimm & Lauren Treweek alongside SHRUNK store founder Myra Spencer and the compassionate minds behind Homb, a postpartum retreat led by Larissa Leone, accompanied by her colleague Kath Taylor. Also at the table, the brilliant publisher behind our debut book Sanctuary - Alice Hardie-Grant.

Conversations and connections between these impressive women flowed seamlessly, progressing to the hotel’s cosy fire-pit, before guests retreated to their rooms to enjoy a moment of rest & reflection with RATIONALE face masks and IMBIBE wellness products to support relaxation & sleep.

We hope everyone enjoyed a beautiful Mother’s Day, celebrating the maternal figures and caregivers in their lives.
