Bondi Beach, Sydney
It comes as no surprise to learn that Lucy Folk's apartment in North Bondi is plastered in lively works of art and colour. Folk moved to Sydney from Melbourne last year, making the iconic blue building in Bondi her base when she's not sailing by Positano or scouring the flea markets in Paris' north for inspiration. The jewellery and accessories designer is an avid traveller and her home reflects this; vessels of all texture and material placed around the home, a bareboned kitchen, even her collection of shoes - comfortable as they are eclectic - lined up by the door and ready to launch. We spent a rare morning at home with Lucy, learning how she keeps grounded in moving constant. Can you tell us a bit about this apartment? When did you move in and what was it that initially drew you to this place?
I moved in one year ago. I adore it. The location, the building, the colour, the scalloped blinds, the view - I love it all!! It's my favourite building in Bondi. Who did the paintings on your walls?
Daimon Downey did my mural which makes the dining room! Saskia Folk's (my sister!) car panels are dotted throughout my apartment. She's a very talented one at that. Brendan Huntley's painting hangs in the living room - I'm a huge fan! Josh Robenstone's photograph hangs in my bedroom. You do a lot of international travel, do you have any more trips lined up for this year?
My life is one big trip! I am heading off in a few weeks for a 5 month stint in Europe which is very exciting. Lots of exciting plans for work and play, I can't wait. What are some of your favourite cities to visit? Paris, Marrakech, New York, Los Angeles, Venice, Rio.

What are you working on at the moment?
Right now I'm designing my Resort 18 collection, planning the campaign shoot, finalising some super cool brand collaborations and developing some new and exciting product categories. It's busy!
Who are some other artists or designers whose work you admire?
I adore everything Marni does and coincidentally I own a lot of it. I think Loewe is timeless chic. Rosie Assoulin for the ultimate party dress. Studio KO (French architects). Lauren Faye - Creative Director @ CLO Studio. Michal Pudelka - photographer....to name a few! There are so many whose work I admire. Where are some of your places you like to go in your neighbourhood?
For Breakfast: Orchard St for an elixir and avocado toast if I am hungry! The Growers Market every Saturday for breaky, some flowers and to get my veggies. The Health Emporium for a smoothie. For Lunch: Lox Stock & Barrel for their trout salad. Porch & Parlour, also their trout salad. Sean's Panorama for a long lunch with friends. They look after you very well! For Dinner: Da Orazio its casual and always festive. Icebergs as you can't beat that view. Bondi Best for take away. Star Anise Broth Bar and Larder for their soup and activated nuts. Then in terms of shopping I shop at PLAYA by Lucy Folk only ha! And I like to walk the Bondi to Bronte when I can. Can you tell us about some of the pieces in your home, and the stories behind them?
I have vases from Mexico, Murano, Mud - they are all gifts from my family and friends. Lots of candles, my own designs, plus Diptyque, Cire Trudon which were also gifts. I have a lot of hats that I collect on my travels and they remind me of the times I've spent in a certain place. I was given the Vitra cork stool which works well in this space. I don't have a lot in my apartment as it's quite small and I like to keep it low key. I like to keep things light and bright, playful and warm. I keep adding to my collection and I have some art that I am excited to add to the walls when I get back from this trip to Europe.

After a long day, what do you like to do to wind down?
A walk along the beach does wonders for me. A swim too if it's hot. I do like to meditate and that helps to ground me. What is your morning routine?
Wake up, get dressed and head to Pilates. Drive home, shower, meditate, get dressed (takes a while!), call the office, grab breakfast on the go or make a smoothie at home. I need my mornings for myself. I don't make it into work until 10am.
What is your bedtime routine?
A nice cup of tea, a mag or a book. I don't have a working TV in Sydney so I tend to read quite a bit. I always have a hot shower whilst listening to some mellow tunes, wash my face, brush my teeth and hop into my linen sheets for some much needed rest.
