Chloe Tozer’s Seaside Haven
Photography by Emma Bestek
Few have honed their interior eye quite like Chloe Tozer, translating a love of travel & the curios that return home with her into boutique & design atelier: CLO Studios. The Peregian Beach sanctuary she shares with fiancé, Jack benefits deeply from this multi-disciplinary offering; a lesson in the ‘dance’ (as Chloe puts it) of colour, texture, lighting, collectables & art. That said, what's outside her home is just as important, named ‘Villa des Fleurs’ meaning ‘house of flowers’ for the lush gardens that frame this creative haven, touched by influences of the French Riviera & Italian countryside. From this idyllic seaside location, we catch up with Chloe on her Noosa mainstays and the non-negotiables for bedroom tranquility.

“My partner Jack and I purchased our home in 2021 and completed a 12-month renovation last year, restoring and reenergising a 1970s beach home and reconceptualising it to Villa des Fleurs. Jack being a builder, it was a natural evolution to work together on our first project, which was a very special experience.
“We have designed a home which is an extension of us and how we love to live. We live amongst our art & objects, with every detail considered and led from our hearts.”
“Our bedroom is a calming retreat space, disconnected from the world. We leave our phones outside our bedroom, to ensure we wind-down from our day with a book and music. Our bedroom has only feature lighting, no down lights. A plastered pendant light hangs low over our bed and shines the light to highlight our beautiful original ceiling, positioned where a ceiling fan would sit in most Queensland homes!
“We have French doors that open to our Juliette balcony overlooking our garden, which allows a nice ocean breeze to sweep through. Our bedroom is the only space in our home that doesn't have art, instead all the colours and textures do the talking.”

“All our ornaments and art are special to us. Collected along our travels or gifted during life milestones. I’m a collector at heart and never miss the opportunity to visit galleries and local flea markets whilst travelling. We have a 1960s 7-piece mosaic table and stools with a feature chessboard; I found it in France whilst sourcing for CLO. We designed our whole outdoor entertaining area around this table.
A home should be made up of memories and collections, a merge of culture, traditions and craft.
“Another special ornament is our Yves Saint Laurent style snake brass candlestick that hangs at the entry to our master bedroom. We found this in the Medina in Marrakesh and instantly feel in love. In African culture, snakes symbolise creative life force, protection and rebirth.
“Design is all about trusting your eye. I observe what I'm attracted too, how colours make me feel and the way textures dance together. Travelling is my biggest source of inspiration. A home should be made up of memories and collections, a merge of culture, traditions and craft. For me everything must have a story.”
“CLO was born in 2016, the year I finished my Fine Art degree, my background is silversmithing. I wanted to open a studio space to make jewellery as well as having an outlet to showcase beautiful brands and artists I loved, alongside objects and furniture collected from my travels. As well as our boutique, CLO evolved into offering interior design and styling services through our Atelier working on both residential and boutique commercial projects.
“Currently we are working on our first upholstery furniture range which we are very proud to be manufacturing locally. As well as furniture design, we have some exciting projects in progress. One of them is a restoration of ‘Halse Lodge’, a heritage guesthouse in Noosa that stems back to the 1880s. As well as accommodation, we are focused on the lodge’s interaction to the Noosa Community. Everyone that knows Noosa has a story of going to Halse Lodge!”
“For CLO, I’m most excited about the opening of our new boutique! We have created a new concept space which really celebrates CLO. Personally, Jack and I are looking forward to our upcoming wedding celebrations in Morocco in May.”

“Noosa is home to some of the world's most beautiful national parks and beaches, and we are so lucky to have them all at our doorstep to enjoy. Having a busy schedule during the week, my weekends are all about disconnecting. Being outside in the garden, getting lost in a book or being creative in the kitchen. We love to entertain at home, and our Sunday tradition is cooking in our woodfired oven barefoot with friends and family.
“It’s our favourite part of our hometown – we love the pine trees, wide streets and wildlife. We wake to bird sounds and get daily visits by rainbow lorikeets. We feel connected to the environment here and spend lots of time out in nature. The block sizes are generous and allow space for a garden whilst living walking distance to the sea. We are also a short stroll to Peregian Village which has a lovely community feel.”
My other Noosa favourites are Matteau for some light shopping and Berkelouw Books in Eumundi for inspiration. I love Vanilla Food for brekky, and for an afternoon wine, Theos and Somedays in the Noosa Junction.”
