Who Made Your Bed Linen?
We spend a lot of time in our sheets, so we think it’s worth knowing where they come from and how they’re made.
We’ve been making our linen in Europe for many years. There are a few reasons we continue to do so, from the specialist knowledge and craftsmanship found there to the traceability of European-grown flax and the long-standing relationships we’ve built with our manufacturers.
Here’s a closer look at what goes into making IN BED linen.
Why Europe?
Linen has been made in Europe for centuries, and there’s a depth of knowledge and specialist manufacturing that comes with that history.
Our linen starts with European-grown flax before moving through specialist European mills and manufacturers, including our long-standing partners in Portugal who dye, cut and finish the bed linen you see today.
Working within this established network gives us greater visibility over our supply chain, while allowing us to work closely with the people making our fabrics on their quality, finish and development.
Our 100% linen bedding is made entirely in Europe, from seed to finished product, by experts in their field.
‘French linen’ doesn’t always mean the finished product was made in France or even in Europe. Often, the flax is grown in Europe before being sent elsewhere for spinning, weaving and manufacturing.
Our linen is different. From the farming co-op that grows and harvests the flax in Normandy, France, to the Italian mill that spins it into yarn and the makers in Portugal who dye, cut and finish it, our linen remains within a European supply chain from seed to finished product.
Our linen is also European Flax certified, giving us greater visibility over where the fibre comes from. You’ll also see OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification across our products, meaning they have been tested for harmful substances.
Many of the manufacturers we work with are independently certified, often family run, and have their own initiatives in place to reduce water and energy consumption.
Long-standing relationships
We’ve worked with our European manufacturers for many years. Knowing the people who make our fabrics means we can work closely with them on quality, finish and the ongoing development of our products.
These relationships also give us greater visibility into how and where our products are made, something that has always been important to us.

Independently certified
IN BED has been a certified B Corp® since 2022. As part of our approach to responsible production, every one of our suppliers is also required to sign our Code of Conduct, which sets out the social, environmental and ethical standards we expect across our supply chain.
Made for years of use
We don’t make linen for a season. We make it to be washed, slept in and used for years.
Quality natural fibres are made to change with use. Our linen softens over time while retaining the strength that makes it suited to everyday life.
We offer a 2-year guarantee that our products will last, or we will repair or replace them for free.
