Circularity

Circularity involves designing products that last and that can be reused, repaired or remanufactured over time. We are continually improving our practices to ensure the longest life possible for our products, prioritising waste reduction, minimising our environmental footprint and more generally, supporting the transition towards a circular economy.

Considered production

We work closely with our suppliers to carefully forecast our needs and make only enough product to meet these needs. We order seasonal items in very limited quantities to ensure we are not overproducing. All of our products are designed to be timeless in hope that the user will love our pieces for years to come and not tire of, or disregard them.

The very small quantity of disused or faulty stock that is sometimes unavoidable is kept for our warehouse sale or donated to our charity partners. We do not send product to landfill.

For any items that may not be sellable (or are sent back to us as part of our Back IN BED program detailed below) we work with Textile Recyclers Australia who recycle & turn these goods into new yarn.

Back IN BED. A new life for your old IN BED products

From May 2021, IN BED has partnered with the RSPCA and Textile Recyclers Australia to offer a solution to end of life products called Back IN BED. If customers have product they are no longer using and wish to return, we will send them a shipping label to do this at no charge. We will then pass on appropriate items to the RSPCA for use in their animal hospitals and shelters, other items will be sent to the TRA who work with factories to recycle fabric and turn it into yarn for reuse in new products.

It’s important to us that you know IN BED products are made to last, using only the highest quality materials, however, as with most natural products made using biodegradable materials they will eventually need to be replaced. To encourage customers to join us in embracing the practice of circularity, IN BED will offer a 20% discount on their next IN BED purchase. We’re excited about this new chapter and the ability to close the loop on IN BED products.

Alterations for defective products

In the case of small defects with fabric, or sewing that is able to be repaired, our policy is to always offer alterations first, before suggesting replacement. For all other samples or imperfect products, we offer these at a reduced rate at our annual warehouse sale and do not send product to landfill.

Reuse of IN BED linen bags

Our IN BED linen bags are produced using dead stock and are a reusable alternative to single use plastic. We encourage you to reuse these at home - either storing your products when not in use to protect them, or in other uses such as produce bags. However, if you do not have any need for your linen bags and would like to return them for reuse by IN BED you are more than welcome to return them to us in store, either by post or in person, at:
